There is not a specific definition of Law. However, some jurists define it in their own manners. But in general Law can be defined as:
Law is the set of principles that are enforced to maintain peace in society.

Law is the command of sovereign backed by sanctions.
Explanation:
Here sovereign any person who has authority over the people, and he does not derive his powers from any external agency. So, the order (command) of such a person is the Law, according to John Austin. Moreover, if anyone does not abide by his order, that person has to face punishment (backed by sanctions).2. John Salmond:

According to Salmond “the law may be defined as the body of principles recognized and applied by the state in the administration of Justice.
Explanation:
According to that definition, Law is made and enforced by the State to ultimately bring justice. In simple words. State makes Laws for the welfare of people and to regulate the internal and external issues.3. Thomas Hobbes:
Thomas Hobbes
The command of the sovereign, backed by the threat of punishment.
This definition relates to the John Austin's definition. So, no need of explanation.
